Menopause is something that every woman in the world is going to go through at some point in her life. It is just one of the things that makes a person female. Many women do everything they can to put it off, but the fact is that, at some point, their bodies will stop having that monthly cycle. The onset of menopause can be quite traumatic for some women, especially if they do not know what kind of menopause symptoms to look for. Everyone has heard the stories of women going through “the change” but what are the real symptoms that women should pay attention to? Keep reading to learn for yourself!

Lots of women will gain weight when they start to go through menopause. Menopausal weight gain happens in very specific locations. It is the thighs and the waist that see the largest weight gain when a woman goes through menopause. This makes a woman’s waistline disappear. Weight gain is something that most women dread. When it happens in this area, however, it can be especially traumatic. If you suddenly start storing weight in these areas when you haven’t ever done that before, you should call your doctor.

It is a possibility that you might be starting menopause. An irregular heartbeat is one of the menopause symptoms that is harder to detect. Some women notice that their heartbeat will suddenly speed up or it will slow down without them having to do anything at all to cause a reaction. A woman who is sitting still, to use one example, might feel hear heart suddenly start to race and then it might slow all the way back down to a resting rate without her having to move. Other women do not notice this symptom at all. Once in a while a woman will only learn that this has been happening is when she visits the doctor for something else. Usually it is when the doctor is listening to the woman’s heart during a routine exam that he notices the change. If you are the right age, this might just be a sign that you are going through menopause.

An increased itching sensation is one of the menopause symptoms that is often overlooked. Some of the women going through menopause say that their skin is always itchy and that sometimes it feels like their skin is crawling. This is different from the sensation of simple dry skin.

The best description is “it’s like ants are crawling through my skin.” This can be very disturbing for some women who aren’t sure what it is that they are feeling. If you feel itchier than usual and constantly want to scratch, call your doctor. It’s possible you’ve developed a skin condition. It might also be one of the signs that you are about to go through menopause (or have started going through menopause already).

A woman’s life change is no barrel of laughs. Menopause is a drastic and unpleasant change for a woman to endure. In fact, the family and friends of a menopausal woman will endure many of the same challenges. Keep in mind while supporting your significant other that she does not have a say in what is happening to her right now.

These are involuntary reactions to changes her body is going through. Give her as much time and understanding as she might need to work through her inner demons. When her body has learned to adapt to the changes occurring within it she will slowly balance out again. Recognizing the signs of menopause will help you become more understanding of what’s happening to her and ultimately make the process more manageable for you.
